Sanctuary birds are housed in species-specific rooms of our main facility and have access to outdoor flights, abundant enrichment, and psychological and environmental support on a daily basis. Some of our clients specifically request that their parrot be placed in foster care or remain in permanent sanctuary.Īll sanctuary birds receive the same high level of care as the birds available for adoption and foster care. We maintain a special hospice area for elderly parrots as well as parrots that are mentally ill, maimed, extreme self mutilated parrots that need special around the clock care. Our organization also provides sanctuary for all exotic birds that are that are not suitable for adoption or placement. Our avian welfare organization also provides for the general welfare of birds in the public domain by providing accurate, comprehensive and reliable educational materials and resources to the public. On occasion our Portland Audubon allows us to release some wild birds back to their natural habitat. We strictly just offer transportation of wild birds to our local dedicated Portland Audubon.
